i've been away from lj, and as i came back i noticed this lovely community is fading away.
so i'm posting these pictures i took. as you can see, i know nothing about taking pictures, ...but i thought i'd share because i really like them and because, of course, they're bird-related.

Little babies.

When I walk through these marshy lands, all I hear is the strange call of the red-winged blackbird. It's like a screeching, off-key gurgle.

help! newborn finches.

hi everybody.

i have an urgent question.

we adopted 2 finches - a boy and a girl - a few months ago.

a few weeks ago, they laid eggs - one a day for 5 days in a row.

it seems that today the first egg hatched. i peeked inside and i'm not sure what i'm seeing. it's writhing and wiggling slightly and it looks like it's just clinging onto life.

is this what a day-old bird looks like???

i'm sure this is horribly naive, but i just want to make sure everything is okay. i've tried searching the internet for images of newborn finches but cannot find what i'm needing.

can you help?
